Manufacturing Engineering Program Objectives
The program educational objectives have been established in consultation with the major program constituencies, including the faculty, the students, the administration, the employers, the professional organizations, and the state of Virginia. Additional input has been obtained from accredited Manufacturing Engineering programs across the nation. The program educational objectives are regularly reviewed by the department's Accreditation & Curriculum Committee (ACC). The committee solicits opinions from student, faculty, administration, and employers through informal discussions, surveys, Advisory Council meetings, IAC, and student feedback. The ACC regularly reviews and seeks curricula improvements to reflect program educational objectives.
The Educational Objectives of the Manufacturing Engineering program is to provide graduates who:
- can apply science, mathematics and engineering principles to engineering analysis and design.

- can work effectively both independently and in teams and can communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- have high standards of professionalism and knowledge of ethical responsibilities in manufacturing
- can obtain employment in the manufacturing field or pursue graduate education
